Celebrate SunrisePublic Workshop:
East Sunrise Improvements Master Plan

The City of Sunrise has initiated the development of the East Sunrise Improvements Master Plan. Join us for a Public Workshop on Thursday, February 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the Village Civic Center (6800 Sunset Strip, Sunrise 33313) that will highlight our consultants’ findings and suggestions thus far.

A Master Plan reflects a community's long-range vision for its built environment, stimulates investment in non-residential areas, helps revitalize existing neighborhoods, and guides the appropriate use of land in order to protect the public's health and safety and to promote general welfare. As a result, this Master Plan has a direct relationship to our citizens, whether you live, work, worship or own a business in east Sunrise.

This public workshop will include presentations from the master planning consultants about their initial market research and other findings related to streetscape, infrastructure and transportation, including some preliminary suggestions about the kinds of programs, improvements, and developments to be explored during the next steps of the master plan process. The public will have opportunities to respond to the findings and other ideas, ask additional questions, and provide input that will help guide the next steps.

Please join us on February 22 and at subsequent community meetings as we work together to shape the Master Plan. For additional information, visit or call (954) 746-3288.

Water ChlorinationTemporary Change to Water Chlorination:
February 5 through March 9

The City of Sunrise Utilities Department maintains the highest quality standards to provide clean, safe drinking water to customers in its service area, which includes the cities of Sunrise, Weston, Southwest Ranches and parts of Davie. From February 5 through March 9, the Utilities Department will switch from monochloramine to free chlorine disinfection in its drinking water treatment system to provide additional protection against bacteria.
This temporary treatment of the water system is a common practice for water suppliers that use Chloramine water treatment method. This periodic program is recommended by the Florida Department of Health. The procedure does not cause any adverse health effects. However, some individuals may notice a slight change in the taste, odor or color of the water during this time.

Special Considerations
Kidney dialysis centers, nephrologists and hospitals have been notified in order for them to make any adjustments necessary in the various processes which they operate. Any questions regarding kidney dialysis should be directed to the user's doctor or dialysis specialist.

Some aquatic and marine animal species are sensitive to free chlorine; persons maintaining aquariums with any sensitive species may wish to contact their pet supply stores regarding dechlorination.

Information about drinking water and health is available on the Environmental Protection Agency’s website, and through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline: 1-800-426-4791. For details regarding the City of Sunrise's treatment system, please call the Utilities Department (954-888-6000), or visit
