Tunes ‘N Trucks Concert Tonight
Join us at the Sunrise Civic Center Amphitheater (10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard) on Friday, May 11, for the final show in our 2017-2018 Tunes ‘N Trucks season! Food trucks will start serving at 6:00 p.m., and Mr. Nice Guy
will take the stage at 7:00 p.m. to perform classic rock hits. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. Admission is free!

John Lennon rode the dizzying ascension of the Beatles to international stardom, and became one of the most celebrated singer-songwriters of the 20th century. In this dynamic examination of the life of a rock star rebel-turned-revolutionary, Lennon’s personal and professional journey is recounted in narration with slides, and his songs are performed live in rich harmony by PinkSlip Duo’s Joan Friedenberg and Bill Bowen. Brazilian Voices: “From Brazil to the World”

Fernando Otero in Concert
Saturday, June 23, at 7:00 p.m.
Grammy-winning pianist and composer Fernando Otero hails from Argentina. He has recorded 16 albums as a solo artist and performs more than 50 international concerts each year. Experience his unique musical style, which incorporates elements of jazz, tango, and contemporary classical. Otero will be accompanied by guest artists Nick Danielson (violin), Jorge Alfano (quena), and Fernando Moraes (percussion). Reserved seating: $18 adult, $10 child.

Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 28
The City of Sunrise will host a Memorial Day Ceremony
on Monday, May 28, at 9:00 a.m. in the Sunrise Civic Center Amphitheater (10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard).
Join us in honoring our fallen U.S. military service personnel. The ceremony will include a wreath placement, distinguished speakers, music, light refreshments, and the presentation of colors. Call (954) 746-3670 for more information.
The City’s administrative offices and the Sunrise Senior Center will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. Parks and Leisure Services facilities will follow their regular operating schedule.

Anime Film and Japanese Culture Festival
Returns on June 2
Sunrise will host an Anime Film and Japanese Culture Festival on Saturday, June 2, from noon to 7:00 p.m. at the Sunrise Civic Center (10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard).
This free event will feature movie screenings, a cosplay costume contest, and origami and calligraphy demonstrations, as well as the opening of our "Works of Anime" Art Gallery exhibit.
